City centre / top of the town west
Stirling achieved city status in 2002 as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations and mixes rich history with modern living. Dominated by the Castle, the former market town has a population of more than 41,000 people although this is added to by thousands of tourists who visit Stirling throughout the year. Modern Stirling has a mix of busy retail areas, arts venues and light industry and sits at the heart of the motorway and rail networks.
