Two of Central Scotland Police's dog handlers won the top two awards at the Scottish Regional Police Dog Trials hosted by Grampian Police.

Dog Section Sergeant Simon Young won the title with his German Shepherd Ralph (3). Sergeant Young and Ralph also won a second trophy for general police dog work including tracking and searching. Constable George Lewandowski and his German Shepherd Boris (4) won a trophy for best obedience, agility and criminal work.

It was the second year in a row that the force won Best Overall. Last year Constable George Lewandowski and Boris won Best Overall. They went on to compete at the National Police Dog Trials in Merseyside where they came second overall.

The officers and their four-legged friends took part in the competition, which covered all aspects of police dog handling such as tracking and obedience work. The competition was held on the Balmoral Estate from March 17-19.

Sergeant Young said: "This was my first time competing at the Regional Police Dog Trials with Ralph and I am very proud of our success.

"These trials are the benchmark of the standards held by dog sections nationally and we are extremely proud."

Constable Lewandowski said: "It is a great achievement to have won these trophies. We have put in a lot of work with both dogs."
