Forces tee off for charity

Central Scotland Police and Fife Constabulary have chosen the Police Treatment Centres Charity and the Police Dependants Charity as the beneficiaries of a fund-raising golf day organised by the two forces.

The event is being hosted by Norma Graham, Chief Constable of Fife Constabulary and Kevin Smith, Chief Constable of Central Scotland Police, and will take place on Tuesday 25 May 2010 at the prestigious Fairmont St Andrews resort in Fife.

The two courses are the Torrance, a final qualifier for the 2010 Open and its sister course, The Kittocks. Both courses are contained within a marvellous venue and surrounded by stunning scenery. Both will offer a fair challenge to participants of all levels. The event is open to anybody who would enjoy golfing at two of Scotland's finest courses and also provide much needed funds for two police charitable institutions.

Proceeds from the event will be shared between the Police Treatment Centres (which provide centres in Auchterarder and Harrogate for the rehabilitation of officers) and the Police Dependants Trust.

The Police Treatment Centres; which provides centres where serving and retired police officers can receive intensive physiotherapy, recuperation and complementary treatments following an illness or injury, and so aid their return to better health.

The Police Dependants Trust; which helped to change the lives of many police officers who have been injured on duty as well as supporting the dependants of officers from throughout the United Kingdom whose lives have been affected through the injury, incapacitation or death on duty of their loved one.

This year's event will comprise an 18-hole Texas Scramble golf competition, with team and individual competitions. This will be followed by an evening dinner and charity auction.
