Working to create safer communities in Central Scotland

From uniformed patrols to detective officers and from telephone advisors to dog handlers, policing in Central Scotland can take many shapes and forms. Underlying all of them is the desire to create safe communities by working intelligently and effectively with the public.

Crime and Specialist Operations

Chief Supt Gordon Mackenzie has responsibility for this area of work within Central Scotland Police. He is supported by a number of other senior officers.

The investigation of crime on a daily basis, or of a more serious nature, is undertaken by detectives either based within Divisional Criminal Investigation Departments (CID) in Falkirk, Stirling and Alloa.

Detectives are also based within a number of specialist units. These include operational units such as Drugs and Surveillance, Financial Crime, E-Crime, Family Unit as well as a number within the Intelligence Directorate, including Special Branch.

Resource and Demand Management concerns the deployment of personnel across the Force as well as dealing with public contact with the organisation through the Service Centre or Force Communications and Control Centre, where 999 calls are received.

Also incorporated under the Chief Superintendent's responsibility are Specialist Support Services. These include the dog section, firearms officers, roads policing unit, search officers, divers and public order officers.
